I have taken Yasmin (the one that came out before Yaz) and had a hard time with adjusting to it the first week. It caused some very unusual symptoms for me. Then when things settled down for me I then had to stop 6 months later for a different reason. One problem I did have during the first week as far as mood was that I wanted to cry for 3 days and I didn't have any particular reason to cry.
I lost nearly 10 lbs while on the Yasmin. That was the only thing I didn't like about it.
One of the other side effects I had when starting out was some discomfort in my leg but then it turned out to be related to my arthritis. Six months later when I was about to come off of it I had a problem with breakthrough bleeding while on the medication.

Yaz nearly killed me. I had severe mood swings, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, daily migraines, nausea, diarrhea, lack of hunger, etc, etc. Be VERY careful about taking this! My doctor gave me an anti-depressant to take while on this, and that didn't even work. BCP's work differently for everyone, just be careful about what you try & keep in constant communication with your doctor about how you feel while taking it. There are tons to choose from & each has a different combination of hormones, so it could be just a case of trial and error for you. Your doctor knows your medical history, so it's best to let him decide which pill to give you, versus recommending to him what you want to take based on what you hear from Y/A.
