Unfortunately it seems guns seem to be a deterrent in some cases, I have recently read many instances where home owners and business owners have turned the tables on would be robbers (good for them, but quite dangerous). With the current trend toward senseless violence some sort of detterent is needed. One big help would be to get rid of the snitch is bad mentality, it is NOT bad to report a crime or its intent.

Calm down ya psychopath, America is too crazy to ever get rid of your guns so you have plenty of time to go on shooting rampages at schools or whatever you psychos do for fun.

actually, in your HIGHLY unlikely scenario (since NO ONE REALLY IS ACTUALLY TALKING ABOUT DOING THIS AT ALL)... they would probably come to you house with several soldiers and odds are, you're not going to last long against them... and even if you did, they would just send more...
you're about 10 times as likely to be named a terrorist combatant and be sent to Guantanamo (which would take you away from your guns) than you are to have your guns taken away...
