psychopaths use religion as a tool. That's how they reel in their followers and appear to be normal. They also use it as an excuse as to why they killed, and start rambling that it had to do with the voice of god telling them to do something, when in fact it was their own subconscious telling them to kill. Schizophrenics are known for using religion as a reason for their insanity (or maybe its just that the doctors claim religion to be the reason they became schizophrenic)

You can't separate the two. A psychopath is much more likely to kill with a purpose, and religion is good at making people violent.

The other aspect is that religion can make non psychopaths into killers as well as long as they have a predisposition for violence and brainwashing.

The secular answer would be that anything that people feel passionately about can be taken to an extreme and twisted, and will be by certain personalities.

The Christian answer would be that there are two forces at work. God (the force of good) does not force people to follow Him, propagandize or lie. The devil (the force of evil) does all of these things. Therefore the devil gives people religious delusions so to discredit God and keep people from His Kingdom.

Either way, psychopathy exists independent of religion and religious people are not exempt from becoming psychopaths.

Yes if they are in a cult. But for terrorist thats a whole different story. My government teacher said that they pay poor people large sums of money to bomb places. Sonce they are poor, they have no choice but to feed their family and take the cash. They use religion as a cover up

PSYCHOPATHY IS NOT CREATED BY RELIGION AND FEW, VERY FEW PSYCHOPATHS USE RELIGION AS A TOOL OR EXCUSE FOR KILLING!

In interviewing and working with hundreds of psychopaths over the last 30 years, I find that they require no reason to kill... their killing is generally premeditated, planned, thought out , deliberate, and with no religious intent or undertone. In fact, we see psychpathy in many (2-3% of the children seen) children <10years old, with no religious values/convictions, and it generally starts with killing animals and deliberate attempts to hurt others. They generally show no emotion or bond with others, and there is a severe lack of empathy and no remorse.

The correlation between religion and psychopathy is very low: the correlation between religion and terrorist activity is high... and yet <5% of terrorists are psychopaths--- if you use the correct definition of a psychopath.

Good question. I tried to ask the same thing and YA canceled my question!!! If you look at human's kind history you will see that most killings had happend BECAUSE of religion and things haven't change and perhaps never will! So yes, religion has made men mass killers and please notice that I didn't say God, nor named a religion.
