I don't want to use IDE cables, if I don't have to. What else can I use to connect it?
I just bought it from newegg.com and I didn't recieve any instructions, any cables, any software, just a box full of styrofoam popcorn and the drive. For whatever reason, I was an idiot and bought OEM...I just overlooked it. I don't guess it's a huge mistake to do so on a DVD-Burner, it's my first build and I would like some instruction (Sony Optiarc, 18x DVD+/-R).

Well you don't have much choice in the cable you use, if the drive is an IDE drive, you have to use an IDE cable, plain and simple. If its an SATA burner, you have to use an SATA cable. Now as for what type of IDE cable, if you don't like the plain ribbon kind you can buy a rounded one like this one:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812104038
