Because white men (most likely followers of the Christian faith) suppressed Native Americans and tried to snuff them out. Personally, I don't know a lot of white people, Christians, non-Christians, atheiests, agnotics, etc. who actually know something about the Native American religious beliefs, so then there really is no basis for ridicule to the Native American religion. Christianity has been ridiculed and sticks thrown at it since before medieval times. It's a long standing tradition to make fun of it if there is even one little thing about the Christian religion's beliefs or rituals that you don't like. Face the facts, I think some people are born with a predisposition to hate Christians. Seriously, though, I've felt it; I'm a Christian.

OK, let's get this straight. You're whining because a belief that is a part of the culture of a society that was nearly wiped off of the face of the earth, and to this day has a very limited following, has a little social protection, but the richest, most powerful and most aggressive religiosity in the world doesn't? Let me think about that and get back to you.

it's because it's a patchwork religion created out of bastardized pagan ritual and ancient story.
Zeus had a son with a mortal woman thousands of years before the christ story. Satan AND Lucifer were both gods thousands of years before the xtians took them and turned them into one entity, The whole 'virgin birth' thing. . . please.
great example. . When the missionaries First told the eskimo about the 'fiery lakes of hell" they asked "How do we get there?"
The first time they told the lakota about virgin birth, they laughed at them.
Search the history of YOUR religion.
Human EGO and AGENDA created a story and a book. That BOOK is COPYRIGHTED, and NEVER FREE.
Also there is no "NATIVE AMERICAN RELIGION"
There are Miwok ways, Lakota ways, Dine Ways, etc ALL DIFFERENT.

I have my own beliefs...and I respect other peoples beliefs as well.....I don't have a problem until it is directed to me and my beliefs....some Christians not all seem to have an holier than thou attitude...and say if I do not go to their churches than I a American Indian woman is a heathen....lol when you start acting like you are better everyone else and put yourself on a soapbox.....its time for me to bring ya down a notch.....I wish most would stop patting their own backs...and just do something positive from the heart if they are going to do anything....calling folks names ain't going to bring them to your church......me I'm either damned if I do or damned if I don't.....I don't make fun of anyones beliefs....just as I expect the same......

Basically the same type of reasons it's ok to make fun of whites, but not others. All has to do with history...who's done what to who, who the majority is, etc.

Making fun of majorities is OK, for some reason.

In today's society, the only person you can make fun of without offending anybody is a white, heterosexual, Christian male. e
