My best childhood memory is going to camp beginning when I was nine. Camping and swimming became my favorite summer activities all the way until I graduated from high school. My very best memory was the summer I was 11 and I passed my swimming test and learned to dive. When I got home, our family went on a picnic, and unbeknownst to my parents, I shocked them to death when I ran around the lake to the deep end and dove off the diving board. I was so proud of myself.

I remember hearing the song "Age of Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In", for the first time. I was in the back of our old Nova on my way to the hospital. You see I was at the petting zoo at our local zoo, petting the goats and lambs, when I was bitten on the penis. Right through my jeans and everything. The song really cheered me up. And I never saw my Uncle Jimmy ever again after that day.

That's a toughie. I have so many wonderful memories but one of my favorites was riding on the llamas in the Bronx Zoo. To this day, I still love llamas and wish I had one.

Visiting with aunts and uncles. One uncle was into tanning hides and just going into his workshop was like exploring an exciting old, dusty, antique filled attic. So much fun but hes gone now and I still long for the days when I sat and listened while he told me stories of his adventures.
