Probably because spaghetti sauce usually has meat in it and it makes it greasy. Try using Cascade Plastic Booster along with your normal dishwashing detergant. It really does work, and even gets out the smell of roasted garlic from plastic containers.

Tomato's are very acidic and that causes the staining. A good way to stop this from happening is to take a baking spray and coat the container before using for sauce storage. it will keep the sauce from staining the container. Spray the lid to the container as well on the inside.
You can also store foods in baggies inside your containers, this too will stop the staining and also make clean up a snap!

I don't use spaghetti sauce in plastic bowls. Spaghetti either goes on a platter dish or on a plate or is heated in a saucepan. And my pizza comes in a box.

plastic has pores I think thats why, but take a little bleach and water and fill the bowl, let sit for a while, then wash in dish washer. if the stain is still there add more bleach but don't add to much.

I haven't a clue but if you spray your dish with cooking spray (like Pam) you won't have to worry about staining either way.
