Curtis, the 98 Camaro had the LS1, not the LT1.
Anyway, I won't restate what's been said here. The good answers were already given. Check the EGR for blockage, map sensor, fuel injectors, etc. Best of luck.

let me assure you that a vacuum leak will make your car idle high, not low. next find and unplug your map sensor. if the car idles back to normal then you have found the problem, but if not try cleaning your egr valve it could be sticking open causing your car to stall. these are the 2 easy ones to check. hope this helps you.

well yes the 4th gen camaro is a copmlicated machine thats because there are so so so many things that could go wrong becaus of fuel injection so, unless ur a fuel injection specialist bring it to get a good tunup(not a walmart one) i prefer my 92 camaro(no fuel injection)

Hi,
I believe the problem is simple in this sort of situations. The problems can come in from all directions such as fuel injectors, fuses, headlights, turn signals, rear lights, brake pads, bad turbo, small exhaust, bad seat adjustments, the weight of the driver and passenger, oil leaks.
Have you tried simply to turn the keys off after PARKING!
Thank you.

it probably also stalls in neutral.
It is probably idling too slow maybe because of a vacuum leak.
when you put it in gear, the load cause more gas to flow, hence a faster idle and no stall.

Could be your fuel injector. Go to Wal-Mart and buy fuel injector cleaner and put it in your gas tank next time you fill up
