I know that if they ever had the power to do it they would certainly attempt to remove all my civil rights and criminalise me and to make any expression of my sexual orientation illegal, am I wrong to think this?

Zero...I did say Christian bigots... I would hope not all Christians are bigots.

by doppler: I am not a Christian I'm atheist and I do not consider my sexuality to be sinful and never could...so any talk of repentance is nonsense. I'm not buying your product today nor tomorrow.

I too feel it is scary when conservative christians revel in their ignorance and are intolerant of others not like themselves. You can't reason with people like that so I feel your reactions to them are justified.

No! Unfortunately you are correct.
I am definitely not lesbian, gay, transgendered, christian or fascist. I really think it takes another to decide if I am bigoted or not as I don't think self observation can tell. I have never been accused of it though. As for bisexual, probably not, but since I am not homophobic it is a little hard to be certain.
Therefore as a relatively unbiased person I have to say many Christians do indeed sound and act as if they were bigoted. Also their proposed proscriptions for civil society would have the effect of producing a fascist government. That is maximum state control with minimal state ownership. Minimal personal freedoms with maximum economic freedoms.
If it looks like a duck & quacks like a duck it probably is a duck.
Take note with caution their professed chritianity next time some one wants your vote.

No your not wrong, a lot of Christians are BIG hypocrites. They are some of the worst bigots I know. (With that being said, there are also some very nice Christians so I don't lump them all together, I judge them on an individual basis). But your right, a lot of them have been brainwashed into thinking that homosexuality is wrong and nothing can convince them otherwise. It's hard to change a person's mind if that's all they've heard all their life. And if some of them had their way we'd all be in concentration camps somewhere.

i could think of for the main section you're precise. besides the undeniable fact that, i could be careful approximately generalizing all Christians. i'm an atheist and that i think of homosexuality is purely part of the human difficulty and not some kind of fetish. The Bible does say that homosexuality is an abomination and there are people who blindly shop on with scripture. yet returned, i understand there are Christians (whose ideals are nonetheless defective) that understand homosexuals' rights as human beings.

You're not right about ALL Christians, of course, but you're right about the ones who have been fighting tooth and nail against equal rights for GLBT Americans.
True, true, you did only mention the bigots..... in that case, no, you're not wrong. And really, NH Baritone is right, the moderates do little to stop their compatriots from legislating their personal religious beliefs into law.

Of course you aren't wrong. Such people have made that more than clear to you and it would be surprising if you felt any other way.
I hear fundamentalists talking and I get so frustrated. How can anyone believe any of that? The answer is to try not to dwell on it. Hopefully you are able to surround yourself with loving, intelligent people. That's where our focus should be. And on what we know is right - respect, consideration and love for all people.
I know it hurts when people hate you and want to hurt you for no reason. But you don't have to let it touch you. ok?

The moderate Christians do precious little to keep the fundamentalists in check. We are left to defend ourselves. It's probably best that we learn to do so because when it comes down to it, we'll be among the first sacrificed if the theocracy ever rises to power.

Jesus loves you, and wants to forgive your sins, but you must first admit that they ARE sins and undertake not to do them any more. This is repentance. Then you must ask forgiveness in the name of Jesus Christ, who died to pay the penalty for your sins, and you must believe that He really is the Son of God and has the power to wash away your guilt with his spilled blood. If you do this, God will forgive you and give you a new heart with new desires so that you won't want to sin against Him any more (this is what it is to be born again).
If you don't feel you can be sincere in any of these things, pray to God that He will soften your heart and your conscience... He promises that all who sincerely seek Him will find Him.
Do you love your sins *so much* that you are willing to go to hell for eternity?
There is nothing any more sinful about homosexuality than there is about anything else the bible forbids... but any unforgiven sin will send you to hell forever. God made the world, God made the people, God makes the rules.
Please, PLEASE think about it.
