Hypothetically, let us say that their stances on every political issue were in line with yours.... but they would not say that the USA is the best country in the world. They insist that there are other countries with better ways of doing things & we have many areas of our government & institutions to improve upon.

Would this stop you from voting for them?

I may not vote for a political candidate if they insisted the USA was not the best country in the world.

Well, if you're under the mistaken belief that the government is the country, you might think this isn't the best country in the world. But, I'm sorry, the government is a minor fraction of what this country is, and I pity those who can't see what a great nation this is because they worry about what goes on in Washington or in the 50 state capitals.

You can admit as a political candidate that the government is f'ed up, because we all know it is. There might be, and probably are, better ways of doing things that are done in other countries, and I have no problem with a political candidate saying that. But, if they can't see how great this country is, and won't say that there is no better place on Earth, then sorry, they don't get my vote.

I would not vote for that person. The way I see it, if you don't think your country is the best in the world, why would you choose to live there? That goes for people the world over, not just Americans.

Depends. I agree that we need help and there are many areas to improve on, but every president needs to have the highest regard for his country. There's a sense of loyalty there, and if you didn't believe that the U.S.A. was the best, what's the point of the pledge of allegience? Pledge your allegience to the country that's better if that's the case. But most Americans are brought up with the mentality that we're the best, and I believe that with my whole heart. I don't think that would make me not vote for them, but my respect level for them would probably go down a tad bit.

Yes, it would -- assuming that's all they said. If they expanded on that statement and their further points were valid, I'd still be fine with them. Unfortunately that isn't too likely, as the primary thing the candidate would likely say is better in other countries is health care.

Yes, because this so called candidate is an idiot. America is not perfect, but it is the best country in the world.

My vote would be for them to go to the other country. That would be the only vote.
