ANY time you have unprotected sex, you risk getting pregnant.

Abstinence is the only 100% birth control method.

However, ovulation generally occurs in the middle of the menstrual cycle (usually around day 14), so the chances of you getting pregnant on day 2 of your cycle are highly unlikely.

Though possible, it is highly unlikely that you will get pregnant during your monthly menstrual cycle. During your period, your body works to shed the uterine lining that it has been building up over the last month, in preparation for pregnancy. When you don’t become pregnant, small uterine contractions begin, encouraging the unfertilized egg and unused endometrium to be shed from the uterus and through the vagina. This means that there is no egg in the fallopian tubes to become fertilized and no lining to help a developing embryo to implant properly.

This being said, there is a small possibility of pregnancy during your period. Women often mistake slight bleeding that can occur with ovulation as their period. Unprotected sex at this time can greatly increase your chances of becoming pregnant. Additionally, sperm can live in the female reproductive system for up to three days. Because some women ovulate at the very end of their menstrual periods, sperm may still be alive at this point, and able to fertilize an egg.

The best way to prevent an unplanned pregnancy if you intend to be sexually active is to use birth control. Condoms are cheap and are about 85% effective. They are up to 98% effective if used properly every time you engage in sexual intercourse.

Beings as how you ovulate (release an egg) about 14 days after the first day of your last period no! People seem to think they conceive during there period but its highly unlikely! I am not saying impossible but its highly unlikely! The reason being is this! Sperm can live for 3-6 days or depending on what doctor you talk to 4-7 days inside a womans body! If you have a period your body is flushing everything it built up that month to support a baby! So unless its superman sperm and it got as far as the fallopian tube and into a womans ovary then no! A womans cervix is low and tight so really sperm cant get in! A woman does not even release an egg untill around 14 days after there first day of period!

The only time you are 100% safe of pregnancy is through abstenance...... you can get pregnant if you have sex before, after, and during your period. so if you don't want to have a baby, use a condom, and birthcontrol, or better yet don't have sex at all. I often tell people who ask questions such as yours that if they need to ask a question like that, then they don't need to be having sex..but if you are going to have sex, at least have protected sex

Not likely. You usually ovulate about 2 weeks after your period, if your cycle is an average of 28 days. You have a period because the ovum was not fertilized and the lining of the uterus, which was prepared implantation of the fertile ovum is not needed.
