Why weren't such prophesies ever discussed as intimidation tactics by the religions , capitalising on the fear and ignorance and anger of the underpriviliged ?
It is obvious they were talking about an end within 10 or 100 years , now 2000 years later people still consider them to be prophesies about the future , while actually they were supposed to happen thousands of years ago .
Doesn't this actually prove that no Deity was ever behind any of the three books ?

uhhhh Yeah!
But you can't convince a religious person of this. And that, of course is the problem with religion and faith... It goes against reason and sanity.

Q: Doesn't this actually prove that no Deity was ever behind any of the three books?

A: No, what it may prove is that everyone who reads, interprets, and translates them must either not be doing it correctly, or simply do not understand the "true nature" or "true purpose" of "inspired writings" of any kind.

This doesn't mean that I do NOT agree with you about how "religions" (and men) used these "inspired writings" as tools to create fear and control others. But they did so, and still do so due the ignorance of the people who believe THEM (the religions, men, etc).

Are there not "(other) inspired" teachings that are found within these books which have been of value to many?

Another possibility is that all we are seeing is our inability to think for ourselves versus simply taking someone else's OPINION as what these "inspired writings" have to say or mean, versus investigating it for ourselves.

Here are just a few basic things that most people either do not know or understand about prophecies of any kind.

1. They have a minimum of THREE levels of interpretation -- on/in the physical plane, the emotional and the spiritual. If a prophecy is 'fulfilled' on one level, then it doesn't need to be fulfilled on another. For instance, if a prophecy was fulfilled on the "emotional or spiritual" level, then it would not need to be fulfilled on the (lower) physical plane.

2. What makes prophecies possible is the Law Of Cycles, and what "seers and prophets" are actually doing is recording "a cycle" which can be applied an almost unlimited number of times in an almost unlimited number of situations and circumstances.

However, the specifics of each "cyclical occurence" depends on the "specifics" of the events, and other factors that exist at the time or during that cycle.

Prophecies have to be read and understood the SAME way they were received...

..."through the eyes and understanding of the soul..."

And to add to the "tone" of your question -- I submit that 300 hundred years from now, people will only be able to read about Jesus' return -- because He will have come and gone without anyone ever really knowing he was hear -- all because they were looking, understanding and believing these "inspired writings" in the way that OTHERS wanted them to.

And I believe that THAT is what is really behind why these scriptures are being interpreted and taught they way they are -- to cause us to "look elsewhere" and "not see".

Hint: Jesus speaks of return as "a thief in the night". How do you suppose this would be possible?

Regards,

they do no longer faux, the Revelations prophecy must be taken into context with different issues that are written interior the Bible with regard to the tip cases. study Daniel The Bible predicts 2 one international leaders or Antichrists who will rule the finished international (Rev 13, Dan 7:8, 11, 23). The fake Prophet, whose selection is 666, will enforce the mark, which could be a tattoo or pc chip. initially they'll promise peace, and misinform many that they are good. they'll reign for 7 Jewish (360 day) years, while they sign a treaty with a lot of human beings. The day the contract is signed will start up the 7 3 hundred and sixty 5 days tribulation (Dan 9:27). for the time of that era, there'll be tribulation on earth worse then any ever in the previous (Math 24:21). they'll reign over 10 powers initially, and later they'll income greater capability and overthrow 3 of them (Dan 7:7, 8, 20, 24, Rev 13:a million, Rev 17:13, 14). interior the process the 7 3 hundred and sixty 5 days tribulation, 1260 days after the contract is signed, the Beast will ruin the contract, income suited administration and enter the temple he geared up, claiming to be God and blaspheming against God (Dan 9:27, 7:25, Rev13:5, Rev 11:2, 2Thes 2:3-9). immediately he will quit Jewish sacrifices in this temple he promised the Jews. there'll be well-known genocide and persecution, extraordinarily of Christians and people who do no longer worship the Beast or his image, which the fake Prophet will reason to communicate (Rev 13:15). the international leaders will misinform many, as a results of fact the Beast is prophesied to be placed to dying and later regain existence lower back (Rev 13:3, 12). the international leaders will type a greater merciless dictatorship than any in the previous them (Dan 7:7).

One could argue that perhaps the endtimes has already begun, and did begin within 100 years after Jesus' death. John had his glimpse at the endtimes in the Bible. He talks about his visions.

Jesus did say in the Bible that the endtimes would happen during his deciples and apostles generation. But in the passages by John, he makes it quite clear that this vision of the endtimes is far in the future. But it didn't necessarily begin there. What's to say endtimes isn't happening now as we speak? WW1, WW2, Vietnamese War, September 11th attacks, War on Terror. All of these could be part of the endtimes. Even the events with Napoleon. If true, it has just taken a long time to really show any of the signs shown in the Revelations.

In light of the world trade center bombing, and the war on terror, I now believe that the end is truly among us now. But that is just my own personal opinion, and really doesn't need to offend anyone.

well, the end of time didn't come yet !!
there still could be 10 million years before the end of time, so how do you know that those prophesies were supposed to happen thousands of years ago ?
in Islam there's a prophesy that before the end of life on earth, the sun will rise from the west, and recently it was discovered that the movement of the earth around itself is gradually slowing down, and eventually the earth will stop, and starts spinning in the opposite direction, thus the sun will rise from the west..

I will leave the end of times prophecies in the world religions
to be 'explained' by their respective faithful.
None of them make any sense to me whatsoever, unless they were made to make sure people 'behaved' themselves over the ages by instilling fear into them.
But atheism having end of times prophecies ...???.
That one is new to me,
There are a few options though.
The average species has a life span of about 5 million years
so eventually Homo Sapiens might evolve into something else, that could be an end of sorts.
The Sun will eventually leave the main line and swell into a red
giant enveloping the Earth, which will fry it.
But it is only about halfway it's lifetime now .
And depending of the amount of mass in the Universe, it will
eventually end in a big chill or a big crush.
And that is a long, long way away yet, don't wait up for it.

Too many religious people are preoccupied prophesy of the end times. But those prophecy's are for another time and place. Prophecy must be contemplated and meditated on. You must come up with your own answers and not mouth someone else's dogma.
Prophesy and faith the God is in the details.

Turning to religion is no different than turning to a bottle of vodka or a vial of crack to get someone through the inability to cope with their emotional states. Religion is not a sign of intelligence, but of fear.

As you pointed out, children have been frightened into compliance one generation after the next. Promises of good fortune for being good, and "hell" for being bad.

Just as the nazis indoctrinated youth when they were quite young, so too have all religions over the many years.

I am being good because I want gifts from Santa too.

I don't think it proves that no Diety was ever behind those books. It's just a part of a person's faith - not the focus of it. Faith is simply faith - whether it goes against reason or sanity. Faith is amazing - whether one has any or not, and I am definitely not a spiritual person. But that's just my opinion anyway.

Cheers!

Firstly, your all mixed up in ignorance! Who told you all this? 'Cause you could not have read this anywhere. You also are incorrect by using the word Deity. Base your q's on fact and not fiction. In case you want to know many religions believe that we are now entering the time of Armageddon.
