in the service for 24 years. relocated about 8 times. currently about 1600 miles from where i grew up. no plans on going back, btw. (and it's been a long time since i have been called an adlut. thanks! happy memories!)

No. I don't live in the same area I grew up. It changed too much and became yuppie central.
Work did not cause me to relocate. It was a conscious decision to leave the big city and avoid the constant sirens. I moved to a remote mountain location and took up homesteading. Met a guy, got married and moved even farther out into the sticks, had kids, got divorced and moved a few more times in order to find work so I could support the kids but never back into a big city. Small towns (and I mean small ... pop. as little as 100 to ones as large as 10,000.) I currently live in a decidedly upper class neighbourhood on the outskirts of a small town. And ... it's my job to live here and caretake the estate. Kids grown and living elsewhere.

I lived in the area I grew up in for 48 years. Then my husband got this retart idea to move. I went from Jersey that I know like the back of my hand, to PA. where I don't know squat and the people are so snobby in the area we moved to. I hate it. I would give anything to go back home where I belong. We moved farther away from work. Stupid move. Totally stupid.

Actually...I am back to the same area I grew up in. I am not currently employed, I'm taking care of my parent.

No, I grew up in Milwaukee Wisconsin. I've lived in California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Arizona, Okinawa and now we're back in Southern Illinois.
