Bonds IS a member of the MLBPA.

Repeat as necessary until seared into the gray cells:
Bonds IS a member of the MLBPA.
Bonds IS a member of the MLBPA.
Bonds IS a member of the MLBPA.
Bonds IS a member of the MLBPA.
Bonds IS a member of the MLBPA.
...
and still, Bonds IS a member of the MLBPA.

However, he (and apparently, he alone) opts out of signing the blanket representation agreement the union uses for group licensing of player names and likenesses (statistics are not owned). A licensee could negotiate directly with Bonds or his representatives, but most consider it not worth the cost or effort.

So, Bonds isn't in the game because the MLBPA license doesn't include him.

actually i remember hearing a few years ago that barry bonds didnt support mlb using his name in video games even though he is a member of the players union.... the reason was bc he felt that video games were to expensive and black families couldnt afford to buy them and that he thought mlb was unfairly charging high prices for video games.... dont know if this is 100% true but i know i couldve sworn i heard that before.... bc i dont think hes been in a baseball game since pujols was on the cover of ea baseball a few years back... and im pretty sure it has to do with that reason above

Barry Bonds is not under a contract of video game labels to use his name. Just as Michael Jordan was not available in most basketball games.

Licensing. Bonds does not participate in the blanket licensing the MLBPA offers for use of player likenesses.

Players not in MLB Players Union aren't in the game. Usually, the game will supply a fake name with no stats and the ratings they would have been given in real life. To put the real players like, they would have to pay the player to use his likeness.

a lot of MLB players pay to not be in the game in case of other endorsments or just personal preferance. its called buying the rights to the game.

Usually he is not in any other MLB games, in ASB he is "Wes Mailman", in 2k he is "Joe Young", and etc.. Notice in the game they change him into a complete opposite except with his attributes, he is white, skinny, and well liked by fans.

i think its bcuz hes didnt sign with like the players association or something like that, so since he isnt with them, the video game doesnt have the rights to his name and stuff, so they have to make him up with a different name and appearance
