I'm thinking of visiting Amsterdam to see the Anne Frank museum among other things (all legal!) Seems like all of Europe is pretty packed in, I'm assuming it would be 3 ish hours on the train? Is Amsterdam worth it? I would stay one night and go back the next morning if I did it.

Thanks

If you leave Paris (station Gare du Nord) 6.55 you will arrive in Amsterdam 11.06.
To get back you need to catch the 18.57 to get back in Paris by 23.05. These times differ a little Monday to Saturday, check your times if you want to travel on Sunday.

One night would give you a enough time to see the highlights, but not much. If you travel in the next two months (summer holidays) you will find all museums crowded and you will spend almost all your time waiting.

Also consider the cost.
You would use the Thalys, and this train has different prices, the first few get a not to expensive ticket, but after that the prices go up steeply.
And by coming to Amsterdam you miss two days in Paris. (Unless you return on the same day.)

I think I would not do it, to much bother for little time, and costly to boot.
But I know people who travel bigger distances at higher cost for less time.

Amsterdam is a great place to go out except from Monday which might be a bit dull. it is possible to get there from Paris with the 'Thalis' train, it takes few around 3 hours and is very comfortable, so you can use that time (to sleep..). as for the Anne Frank house- I have never been inside but passed it many times, it is more often then not that there is a long cue in front of it. i suggest you call/mail them and ask when is the best time to avoid the long waiting- it might save you a precious hour (in the Van Gogh museum...)

That wouldn't be too bad.....all in all I would say.....I travelled from train from Amsterdam to Brussles and it didn;'t seem to take long at all ( of course Paris is further!!)

I would say to that half a day is all thats needed for Amsterdam!!
Anne Frank's house was my fav thing I saw there!

Paris / Amsterdam. Train every three hours (0900, 1200, 1500 etc.). Journey time is a little over 4hrs.
This site gives all information.

the train would be great and it'll only take around 2.5 hours right into centraal station. If you want to stay longer than a day I stayed with these guys before http://www.holiday-velvet.com/amsterdam Otherwise, there's plenty of stuff you can do and take the last train home
