gee, I don't know. I'm in an apartment setting and it used to be that we could have a guest come and stay for two weeks, but now we're not allowed at all (even though some people do it). In a house you have to be careful because each state has laws. If a person moves in and you don't bring it to their attention immediately then you may not be able to get them out if they are doing any cleaning or helping out. Better check with the statutes in the law where you live. No, don't split five ways but rather have someone removed.

2 weeks is a house guest. 2 months is a resident. A 5-way split would be entirely appropriate.

My opinion is that when a person starts receiving mail at a residence, they have moved in. You are well within your rights to ask that bills be split 5 ways. But please know that since he is receiving mail there, in order to make him move out, you will have to legally evict him.

I have to agree, if he is using utilities and eating food and all the stuff that everyone paying uses, he needs to buck up and forward some cash.

You could be like my brother in law...he told his mom she had to go home one day because the toilet paper roll was empty...he was just joking with her but it was hilarious to hear.
