I'm already familiar with psych-out, the trip, easy rider, head, and the other more obvious ones. I'm thinking more along the lines of 1960's urban hippies, junkies and artists displayed on film in some kind of crash pad or loft. I've seen these kind of movies on late night tv when I was younger, they've been an influence. Where can i find them and what are they called?

I lived through that period and can remember some of it. Some movies I remember include Sympathy for the Devil by Jean Luc Godard and featuring the Stones (definitely available on DVD), the Andy Warhol collection, especially those starring Joe Delessandro (not sure of spelling), Dont Look Back (or Dont Look Now - the other is a very good thriller starring Donald Sutherland and Jane Fonda from the same period) about Dylan's first tour of Britain and Yoko Ono's Bottoms (consisting of a film of hundreds of naked bottoms.

The Warhol movies are the only ones fitting your requirement of urban hippies and are definitely on DVD. But the others might interest you.
