Okay, here's some brain work.
If you marry your brother-in-law. That would mean that he would have to divorce your sister. That would mean he would no longer be your brother-in-law.
This is not illegal, but it's probably some of the more screwed up stuff I've heard. So your co-worker doesn't like her family too much eh?

the easy answer is ... no it's not illegal...(if he and your friend is single)
the hard answer is ... what kind of grief will be caused by such a union in the family.
May be best to just let it go and find someone else to be with. I can't imagine in a million years ever wanting to marry or even view my brother in law in a sexual manner...YUCK!

If you are single or divorced and your former brother in law is also single or divorced then yes you can marry. Oddly enough people have married their original spouses brothers or sisters....it in not completely unheard of.

The "in law" thing implies that either of you are married, therefore, unless you are living in Utah I would definately say NO!! However, once you file for divorce, the "in-law" thing goes away, so what the heck!!

this woman was supposed to marry my uncle but he died before they could do it, and her sister married his uncle (as in my great uncle.) so now we are related, and if they weren't sisters they would be aunt/niece in laws or something like that, i don't really know because it's hurting my head. but my uncle never married her, so technically we weren't related before my great uncle and his wife got married. but this is different, although not unheard of. it's not illegal. you hear stuff about identical twins marrying each other and all that.

Nope. As long as you're both divorced (which would also mean he's no longer your brother in law), the marriage is valid.
