for the month of August (which he spends with his mom). Although he will be in the next state, he doesn't want to see me this year because I cried when we said goodbye previously. He says it stresses him out. We've been friends for 20 years, and I'm hurt that he doesn't want to see me. Am I over-reacting? I've already told him how I feel.

He cannot stand to see you cry hon, it breaks his heart and stresses him out.YOU know he is going back to Europe, so he knows whats coming. It isn't that he doesn't care about you, he cannot handle the stress.Go see him at his mom's, at the beginning of his trip, then cry when YOU go home, then he will be over it by the time he leaves.

No. You aren't overreacting. If he only gets to see you once a year and is too "stressed" to deal with your emotions, it really sounds as if he's ready to break the ties of friendship. Perhaps the physical difference for such a long period of time has changed his feelings and last year, your tears made him realize that he did feel the same way as you do. Perhaps it's time to start letting go.

I would write this one off, and let it go. If he doesn't want to see you, then you need to keep it long distance and very casual.

Obviously, your emotional outburst has led him to believe you're madly in love with him, and can't live without him. Show him you can.
