new laptop that is Wi-Fi ready.#1 Soooo... if I go somewhere like Barnes and Nobles, should I be able to get Internet without having any kind of subscription to a provider? Next, my school distrtict has wireless at all the schools. Each time you go to a different school, this message comes up. Do you want to change over to ________ school's wireless? #2 Does this mean the wireless is free at the school if laptop is wi-fi ready?

If you go to different locations such as Barnes and Noble or Panera they may offer the WiFi service at no charge. If there is a charge, when you try to log on it will say that it is a protected network and you need an access code to get in. The same applies to the schools. Most school's WiFi networks are unprotected and you should have no trouble.

#2 - I would think that most schools have a closed and secure system that you would need a user name and password to log into.
