Here we go again, just another version of chicken/egg
OK
In this instance it's the seed .............. because each new plant is a mutation of an earlier plant, therefore the mutated seed had to be there first so that the new species/variety could grow
And it's the same with the chicken/egg scenario.
The first Chicken was a mutation of some other bird, therefore the egg it came from was the 1st chicken egg and was there before the 1st chicken.
Evolution shows all of this quite clearly
