While playing a RPG on my computer I get a whirring noise..why?

I just got my computer back from Geek Squad less than 4 hours ago, and just as before I sent it to them, I have this same problem. Whenever I play this MMORPG, after about 5-10 minutes of gameplay I get this whirring sound from my computer, the game disconnects from the server soon after, along with my internet connection. Before I sent it to GS I had this problems months before, but it stopped and I could play the game without this issue at all. I've tried closing out extra programs without luck. The same whirring sounds occured when I used to play The Sims 2. I doubt it's something to do with memory because my computer was wiped when I picked it back earlier today [New hard drives and CD drives]. I only get the whirring sound when I'm playing the RPG, and when I used to play the sims, never when web browsing or such.

Is there any hope or will I have to get a new computer?

You probably need to add more system memory, the sound is from your HD, when it is accessing the Virtual Memory.
