That is a total myth that if your grandpa on your mom's side is bald, then you will be for sure. It doesn't sound like it is a for sure thing that you're going bald at all. Look, those prone to going bald are those who have bald grandparents, bald dad, bald siblings, uncles... you get the picture. Basically it's the ones whose families are definitely bald, not just because one person in your family is bald, even if it is your mom's dad.

If you aren't showing any type of signs of balding yet, then I wouldn't worry about it. If you are really that worried, ask your parents to take you to a dermatologist and have him map your hair for miniturization. By doing that, the dermatologist can tell you right off whether or not your going bald or not.

There really is no way of telling whether or not you are going to go bald until it actually happens. You could even be carrying the baldness gene, and maintain a full head of hair. Everyones body reacts differently to each gene.
The gene is passed down maternally, however this could be your mothers father, your fathers mother, your mothers fathers mothers father, and so on. Genes have a habbit of staying quiet for a few generations and then popping up and showing themselves.
You just have to wait and see.

There might be a small chance. My brothers hair got very thin after he turned 17 or so, he did get a very thin hair spot on the back of his had and his fore head started growing, like more skin than hair.
He's 25 now and is slowly going balder.
My cousins al had the same problem, but my dad's hair didn't change until he turned 53 or so.

You have a 50% or less chance of going bald. You inheirit it from your mom on the x gene. The fact that her brother is not bald means that both of the x genes in her family are not carrying the balding trait. I would sat your chances are good for keeping the mop!

It's a possibility, but you said you favor your fathers side of the family so that might be in your favor.
