The Appalachian mountains from PA to VA are great in the summer! Lot's of laid back ,beautiful scenery, fishing, hiking, and a terrific trail to follow. Start at Ohio Pyle and just keep walking the trail unless you wanna be Bear Gryls and eat grubs. Beautiful scenery with the river. I like bringing my light kayak and floating some.

The Rockies - they are big and majestic - but the range is HUGE so you would probably need to pick a specific area and visit there - I would HIGHLY recommend The Tetons on the Idaho-Wyoming border. they are breath-taking and very enjoyable to visit, especially in the summer for hiking and such. there is also a ski resort for winter time. check out the National park website - it has some suggestions for visiting and some great pics too.

I live in Boulder co, & the city wouldn't be the same with out it. I bet the smokies are great but you got siking, hiking, snowboarding, camping & water tubing. The Rockies are known for the best siking & snowboarding. We have lots of wildlife too.And the views are incredible because colorado has the highest mountains in the U.S. other than Alaska. It's all so beautiful.

Virginia's Shenandoah valley.
Especially the town of Luray. As well as the caverns.
The Appalachians are the only mountain range I have ever been to.
