Theres no question about it. Just some of his stats, if he stays healthy all season, will be at the end of 2007[approx.]: 2560 hits; 1560 runs scored; 450 doubles; 490-495 HRs; 1600 RBI; along with a career BA of .297. Now, consider that he is almost certain to play at least one more season. If the '08 season is a typical one for Sheff, he'll be in the company of baseballs' elites in most major offensive categories. He'll be a lock.

He has hall of fame talent but he'll never get in. I remember seeing Gary Sheffield play when he was with the Florida Marlins. My first thought was this guy is a little better than everyone else on the baseball field. I said to myself this guy's going to be a hall of famer. Never lived up to his promise. He's had some super years but not enough of them to get him into the hall. It's a shame he has enough talent to get into the hall.

Time will keep Sheffield out of the Hall-of-Fame. He certainly has good numbers, but the game has changed. McGwire did something that hadn't been done in 37 years. But breaking Roger Maris' record wasn't enough to get him in. Bring baseball back after the '94 strike didn't get him in. Sheffield may be closing in on a milestone in Homeruns, but these numbers mean less than they did 20-30 years ago. With these numbers back then he would have been a lock, but today it is just not enough.

Sheffield left the Yankees in a commerce with the Detroit Tigers. He grow to be unhappy with being a DH, and had to play the sector (you recognize, like a real baseball participant). He have been given his wish while the Tigers released him on the beginning up of the 2009 season, and he grow to be signed by skill of the Mets shortly thereafter. He grow to be granted loose corporation on the tip of the 2009 season, and no person grow to have an interest in conserving his centers. He did no longer announce his retirement till at present (February 2011), yet on condition that he's performed because of the fact the 2010 season, he could be eligible for the hall of repute in 2015. there isn't any doubt that he merits to be voted in, he grow to be between the main suited ability hitters for a complete decade, and has the "magic" kind of 500 HRs (besides to three different very wonderful stats). besides the undeniable fact that, the vote casting for induction is finished by skill of a collection of capricious hypocrytes... so as that they could bypass over Sheffield the two because of the fact he admitted to making use of PEDs, or because of the fact he grow to be no longer cherished. plenty for honesty finding out to purchase forgiveness. i could vote him in in the event that they gave me a vote.

To me he is a certain hall of famer, but that doesn't mean the arrogant prissy BBWAA will vote him in, because of his alleged steroid use, and his dealings with the media.

He is one of the greatest hitters of this era, yet I never hear his name mentioned up with the best players, unless it's by Joe Morgan on the Sunday game of the week on ESPN. He hits for power and average, has good speed (steals bases) and plays a decent outfield, plus unlike a lot of sluggers, he doesn't strike out that often. To swing as violently and aggressively as he does and not strike out that much just amazes me.

Besides Bonds, he's probably the most feared hitter in the game and has been for 10 years. Plus he's the most exciting hitter to watch in the game, as he just hits the ball so HARD!

He's a no brainer in my book, but with the jerk-off baseball writers, you just don't know.

Absolutely. There isn't any type of argument that could support him not being a future hall of famer.

He is a Hall Of Famer whether we like it or not. His numbers speak for itself.

Once and if he reaches 500 homers he will be a hall of famer. If he doesn't reach 500 he doesn't get in.

Of course he is a hall of famer.

He hit his 20th HR of the season today, and his 475th of his career--which tied him for 27th place on the all time with Stan musial and Willie Stargell.
