I am trying desperately to scale down my minimal fixed budget and trying to find the cheapest way to get computer connection without any phone. So if you have a cell phone and a puter at home, How does that work, I guess the cheapest and maybe only way is clearwire ? I know I can get Qwest for $55 a month without phone service but I think that cost is bogus.

Cable companies pocket a lot of money. Do what I do, I called the local cable provider and told them I wanted 3MEG internet and cable tv. They gave me a price. I told them they charge too much and I will go with sattelite. They hate that. They will give you an offer, still say its too much, then they may bargin even more. Take it. I have 100 digital channels plus showtime, hbo, and 3MEG high speed internet for $50/month.

T Mobile came with a new wireless phone not long ago that can use your broadband wireless router to place calls over the Internet at no charge (US only).

If you make a call while connected to your wireless router and then leave the range it will go to the T Mobile network, but the cal will not be charged from your regular minutes.

I hope this technology is quickly adopted by other carriers, as when I look at my coverage area for the regular T Mobile network it was not that great.

If you have a 700 minute for lets say 40-60 dollars, but can make most calls home with the wireless your bill should not spike.

I have Cingular-Att ($80) whatever that means, and VOIP with Verizon VoiceWing for about $28 (Includes Canada, US, and PR).

If another carrier with good coverage adopt this system I will certainly drop my VOIP as a FACT!

Hope this helps.

For your cell phone, you can like get the PAY AS YOU GO ones and for internet, use AT&T (Or is it SBC now?) DSL Internet. It's like $12.99 for a month for high speeds.

But to truly save money, try, do try, to minimize electricity and water waste, those can save you lots. And bike more often, if you usually drive.

i can help you if you're using a nokia phone with bluetooth connectivity...
you may use a bluetooth connection. buy a bluetooth adapter for your pc... install nokia p.c. suite. by doing this, you can make your cellphone act like a modem... but you are charged by your service provider for making calls... so find the "call back" feature of the net connection and configure it... hope this works to you!... gudluck!.. :D
