clinton was president , he lost 74 seats and without a war !
his policies and ideas were so liberal , the country said no to him. you better think about that before you elect another democratic pres!!!!!!!!!!!! there has never been a good democratic president.

Why did they lose? The '93 tax increase, the proposed takeover of health care, and the Republicans actually ran on something.

The Democratic congress lost seats for the same reasons the republicans lost in 2006. They controlled the congress and instead of concentrating on policies programs they used the time to fatten their own wallets, be wined and dined by the lobbyists, this brought about Newt Gingritch and his contract with america. Even Newt said that 12 years later the Republicans had done the same things that got the Democrats thrown out.
