Braxton Hics does not always mean that you are in labor
however since you note that they are more frequent and intense you could actually be in labor.
If it gets to painful go to a hospital.
I was in labor for a week and when I finally mentioned what I had been feeling my obgyn checked me and I was already at a four.
Best wishes to You and Yours.

I am happy to tell you that you will be going into labor soon. Maybe not as soon as you hoped though. Braxton Hics contractions is just a way of letting you know its soon. Iam 36 wks and feeling the exact same way with the breathing and also sleepless nights. Hang in there. When you start feeling pain in your back moving into your stomach and you think you could be in labor, start counting how much time there is in between the contractions. 3-5 min. get to the hospital

Unfortunately it doesn't necessarily mean labor is soon. People can have Braxton Hicks contractions for the entire half of the pregnancy, so there is no way to tell how soon actual labor will start.
However, you are only about 2 weeks away from your due date so labor is right around the corner anyway.
Good Luck.

Not necessarily. A pregnant woman can go for weeks, even months with Braxton Hicks contractions.
You said that they are getting more frequent and intense - could they be real labor contractions? Maybe you should call your doctor.

I TOTALLY feel ya girl~I am also 38 weeks, vertically challenged and can't breathe... and they're estimating my baby at between 8 1/2 and 9 lbs. She hasn't even begun to drop yet. Braxton Hicks are basically practice contractions . It does mean labor is coming but you could easily still make it clear to your due date. I had them with my son and he was born RIGHT on time. You only have two weeks to go, so in any case...you're close! Hang in there and CONGRATS!

No Braxton Hicks does not imply labor is coming quickly at all. This is in actual fact follow contractions for the uterus. Nothing more and nothing much less. Congrats on the little one though.

I could mean labor is soon, but again, maybe not. Some women have BH contractions for weeks, even months before they deliver. It's just your body's way of getting ready for the big even! You are reaching the finish line, so don't worry, labor will be here before you know it!

You very well could go into labor soon. when your contractions become 3-5 min. apart is when you should head into the hospital. you can walk and it will bring on labor for some women. i walked with all three of mine and either the same night or next day i was in full labor. good luck and congrats.
