Definition---subordinate group is a sociological group that does not constitute a politically dominant plurality of the total population of a given society

What does that really mean....I mean, is this country not made up of mostly Hispanics, African Americans, Asians, West Indians, East Indians, etc.

No offence to the caucasions....I just don't understand why in 2007 we're still called/considered "minority" when the majority population is of non-white descent.

Two of the largest continents in the world (Asia & Africa) are so called mostly "minority" populated.......would that make caucasions the minority on a Global scale then?...........just curious who's the real "minority's here?

Unfortunately when you look at congress you still see (for the most part) a big group of old white guys, perhaps this lack of representation leads some to use this term. Otherwise I believe it stems from a lag in society realizing this shift.

I think it has to do with a classification or legal status by the government.

Um yup blacks are STILL minorities darling, and we will continue to be. Sorry.
The majority will soon be mexican. Not Hispanic. Due to extreme baby making and crossing the border.

yes i am... and i dont think it used because those populations are necessarily minority groups i think it is more a power thing..just my opinion
