Tennis at any level is a very mental game. take things one point at a time. make your opponent make the mistakes. The coach will look much more positively on a player who lost because their opponent has nothing but aces and winners, than a player who lost on unforced errors. Take the attitude of "She has to BEAT me to win." Too many players just beat themselves.

For me, the greatest thing about tennis is win or lose, if you go out there and play your best then you've done everything you're supposed to do. I always got nervous around my coach and better players until it dawned on me one day that once upon a time they all didn't know how to play either. We all start at the same place. There was a time when even Roger Federrer couldn't hit a ball decently.... You just need to be the best you can be for right now and keep working at getting better. One of the things that tennis teaches us is to believe in ourself. You're not going to win everytime you step out there but you're not going to lose every time either. If you're focusing enough on your game when you're on the court then you shouldn't even be aware of who is watching you.

I know alot about the aspects of being nervous during a match. A few months ago I played everyday and I then was confident that I could defeat my father, an experinced Tennis Player. Then when I played him, I fell apart due to the pressure of trying to impress him with my skill. I just say prey and ask God for confidence and then just let loose and try to create your own world. It worked for me and I'm sure it'll work for you.

You could try to pray b4 and during the match...i'm not saying you have to kneel down, put your hands together and evrything...just mutter a quick spontaneous prayer...it rele helps me during soccer matches.

Concentrate on hitting the ball, which sounds easy...but with distractions, you are losing focus on why you are out on the court. Simply concentrate on hitting the ball as solidly as you can.
