Some good acts are Darude, Tiesto, Faithless, Chemical Brothers, Prodigy, Armand van Helden, Paul Oakenfold, and Underworld. Download a few songs from each of each these artists and you'll get a decent sampling of some classically good techno/trance. A lot of this stuff is from the 90s, but still perfectly hot for today's scene.

I don't know the name of the band but the CD is called tranzworld 2 and it's a swiss techno group, it's pretty good.
you should also check out the crystal method, prodigy, paul oakenfold, and the chemical brothers. and if you have itunes or some other music downloading program, just type in techno and go explore. that's how i find my bands. good luck!

It depends on what type of techno you like:
softer:
the whole new Madonna album, especially: "Hang Up," "How High," and "Issac"
Mody, "Move" is excellent, pretty much anything by him is good.
Harder: Combichrist is a good bet, especially (pardon the language) "This Sh!t Will F@ck You Up"
Old NIN remixes of "Closer" are pretty sweet
