Let's put league MVP LADAINIAN TOMLISON asside for a moment and review some of the other reasons why the Chargers are one of the most tallented teams in the NFL......

* Michael Turner (6.3 yards per carry, #4 in the NFL)
* Shawne Merriman (17.5 sacks, #1 in the NFL)
* Shawn Phillips (11.5 sacks #9 in the NFL)
* Antonio Gates (hands down, best Tight End in the NFL)
* Lorenzo Neal (hands down, best Full Back in the NFL)
* Phillip Rivers (1st year starter, 92 passer rating, 22 TDs)
* Nate Keiding (89% accurate, only 3 missed attempts)
* Pro Bowlers: Philip Rivers, Lorenzo Neal, Antonio Gates, Nick Hardwick, Jamal Williams, Shawne Merriman, Nate Kaeding and Kassim Osgood (most of any NFL team!)

Still think San Diego is nothing without Ladainian Tomlinson?

BOTTOM LINE.... we DO have LT. The Burner is as good as or better than most starting runningbacks in the league. San Diego had what, 10, 11 probowlers last year? Yes, SD would still be a good team if LT (knock on wood) was unable to play. Just remember, LT did play some losing seasons in San Diego. The reason why they're winning now is because the team got better, not just LT. Everyone who is not a fan is either sick of how good the Chargers are, or afraid their team is going to lose to them. GO BOLTS!!!!

The chargers can still make the playoffs even without him. They could probobly have a decent runningback and get to the AFC championship.Shawn Merriman is talented enough to get the first league MVP since a long time ago. Gates is a much better tight end than Shockey and the other top 5 tight ends.

If you compare the patriots in their superbowl seasons to the chargers currently, the pats had an amazing QB, decdnet recievers, a good runningback, and a decent defence. The chargers have a great QB, a good reciever in McCardell, a decent runningback (if they got rid of LT), and they have an amazing defense. They lost in anupset to New England so I see them getting pretty far this year.

Turner mostly played in mop -up roles also. Plus how can you say Merriman is a pro-bowler.. he sure as HELL didn't deserve it. didn't he get suspended for taking performance hancing drugs?? He is no better than the rest. LT was a game changer. Is Phillips gonna run 100 yrs a game? obviously not. Put Turner in there all year and sit LT. i bet their record would show the discrepancy in backs. before spouting off at the mouth, look at the quality of players you have and especially when turner gets his yardage. Plus it helps playing the Chiefs and Raiders twice also.

There was a recent article done that mirrors your opinion. They actually said the worst loss for the Chargers would get Gates.
LT is a beast and will most likely have the same or close to the same success this year. I am seeing consecutive MVP honors and SB MVP!!!!!!

Ya i agree with you all they need is a number 1 wide reciever and they have amazing defence I just don't think their strong enough in the corner position to become one of the top defencive teams. If they can have a Reciever step up they will be the best team in the afc hands down.

You forgot a probowler, Luis Castillo.

As much as I hate the Chargers. They would still make the playoffs without Ladanian. But, that kid brings the Charge to that team.

Without L.T. they would still be a good team.

But they would never go anywhere without L.T.

You might as well get use to hearing it. People will keep saying it untill they get better players around him.

As it is right now L.T. Gates the Kicker and a few players on the DEF make up all they have.

yeah i still think they arent crap without him. michael turner couldnt take the whole load. wade phillips went to dallas so u wont run the same defense. crappy head coach. hes an alright offensive coordinator but he sucks as head coach. san diego isnt all that anyway so people shut the hell up about san diego.
