The Government would lose about $300 million dollars, which is nothing, but its sort of just wasted. Every American would then be $1 million richer, which may be nothing to rich people, and all the rest of the people would spend it all away and its as if it was never even given to them. Of course, all the young people such as myself would pass out then all get iPhones.

It'd add $300 trillion to the national debt. And the resulting inflation would make the "gift" worthless, since everyone would know that everyone else has an extra $1M to spend. Would you keep selling gasoline for $3.00 a gallon if you knew everyone around you just inherited $1 million?
- Darn! In the time it took me to write my answer, 30 people jumped in line in front of me. Now I just look like a bad plagiarizer.

I'd be pretty happy as everything your government does, Mine soon does. I'm Canadian and my Prime Minister has been kissing the President's cowboy boots since his first day in office. But my country's broke and is finding new and exciting ways of collecting money off of us so I doubt it would happen.

it would depreciate the value of the American dollar and screw up our economy but more than likely most of the checks would bounce because the money is not in a bank account its in the pockets of politicians

They would wait till we cashed them and them come back saying they made a mistake. Then they would demand all of the money back, slaming on tons of interest on top of it, and if it isn't paid back within 1 year, put us in jail till it was paid back.
