It's the single most strategic resource on the planet. It literally and figuratively drives our economy. Do you realize that everything from car fuel, to plastic bike helmets, to crop fertilizers are made from petroleum?

I honestly cannot think of a better reason to go to war.

Why do people say the US isn't fighting against terrorism, they're fighting for oil. Is that really a bad thing?

Our dependence on foreign oil is a choice, not a necessity. Hence the need for alternative fuel sources.

Yea. It isn't bad thing. Oil and terrorism are not 2 separate issues. As Bush noted several occasions that he doesn't want enemies to control our energy source. If you drive a car you can't really oppose war over oil frankly.

But the war was 'sold' to the public as 'war on terror'. I think that's what infuriate lot of people. You know what I mean? They stumbled, fumbled into this war. With no clear objective or no clear goals. Or it appears.

People feel like they got schemed. They feel like they bought apple, but got monkey poop instead.

Go and read some books on the subject, I recommend Blood of the Earth. We live in a global community, so yes when one country decides to literally pi*s away a resource an then go half way around the world an unilaterally declare a war its a problem.

It wasn't ours, Lives are being lost on both sides,we were brought in to the war with lies, there are a lot of alternatives to pursuing more oil but such things like conservation does not put money in Haliburtans pockets and if you have any doubt that its more about money and less about terror or oil then you simple are not paying attention. Wake up please.

It's not the fighting for oil that's the problem, it's the greed involved and the dishonesty about the weapons of mass destruction that lead to the illegal war that was fought in the name of the black gold.

Because our gov't lies to us. If they would just tell us upfront that we're fighting for oil that would be one thing...but they tell us a different story.

You obviously have never been in a war. Keep hiding in your hole and one day you may grow up.
