There's no reason you can't start right away - in moderation. Make sure he's wearing both a t-shirt and trunks to help keep him warm in the water and to protect him from the sun. He should have waterproof sunscreen on if he's outdoors. Babys can get cold very quickly in water, so don't keep him in the water too long - watch the coloration around his mouth/lips and fingernails.
My son's first time swimming was at a YMCA when he was 1, but that just happened to be the first time he got a chance to go swimming. I would have gladly taken him into the water many months sooner.

they have not have been given any way of understanding if a toddler is yours or not. at present with all the single couples having babies the youngsters do not continuously have a similar final call through fact the mummy. many times swimming pools have an open swim time. call around to public swimming pools on your area and notice if any have a 0 get right of entry to toddler pool. babies have so plenty greater relaxing in a toddler pool the place they are in a position to sit down down up and play. Being consistently held contained in the three ft isn't as relaxing. they are in a position to't do plenty! I took my daughter to toddler swim training. they did not look properly fairly worth the money. We had plenty greater relaxing on our very own throughout open swim situations.

I would say around 3 months would probably be the earliest I would introduce a baby to a swimming pool, because of the chemicals. Also, keep in mind that although he may love his bath, swimming water is usually about 15-20 degrees cooler than bath water, and babies don't usually like to be cold! Good luck!

I took mine at 6 months only because he is a December baby. My mom put me in swim lessons when I was about 6 weeks old (mommy and me classes)
So I agree with someone elses response, just make sure that the skin is not irrated by the chemicals and use TONS of sunscreen. Have fun

My son just had his 4 month checkup and they told me it was now ok to take him swimming. In a pool only though. No lakes, rivers or oceans until he's at least a year because of bacteria.
And they said to not put any sunscreen or bug spray on him until he was 6 months.

You can take them in as early as a few weeks. Just make sure they have plenty on sunscreen, and a hat. If there seems to be a lot of cholrine I would skip it though. You dont want that to irritate their skin. My son started swimming lessons at 7 months.

As long as you are comfortable I would say anytime. Just keep an eye on his skin if you are in a chlorinated pool, some babies break out in a rash, also if you go swimming in a lake, or pond or even the ocean, wash him afterwards because the bacteria can make him sick.

apparently its not a good idea to take a baby swimming before 6 months as their immune system isn't developed enough till then and theres alot of bugs etc in pools. i know how you feel though, im so keen to take my son swimming, and i've hated waiting but he's almost 6 months so yay! stink thing is that its winter here (new zealand). i think alot of parents take their babies earlier though so its up to if you feel ok about it.

My daughter was 6 months old and she LOVES it. I bought a floatie from Target that she lays in and has a shade over top so she doesn't get too much sun. Also, this is in a warm pool. I wont take her to the ocean/natural water until she is a few years old.
