not necessarily ... have hardly hear anyone using gps to make crop circles...

Rope, stomp board and geometry are the only tools a true crop circle artist needs.

Crop circles are made by rotating irrigation sprinklers. It's used where land is cheap and water or irrigation equipment is expensive.
