Actually exist racism in Western Canada?

Question

I´m mexican and I have been in North Dakota USA where a lot of people there hates mexicans a lot, and this is very different to USA south states.
But now I going to work in Edmonton AB, but I going to live in a small town near to the Donwtown Edmonton.

and I don´t know how the canadians are with the foreign people( with mexicans)
Actually I have been never in Canada

I've lived in a lot of places around the world, and find Western Canada to be one of the least racist places that I've ever been. There aren't really as many 'rednecks' in Alberta as it has the reputation for. Especially now that the economy is booming so much. There are, like anywhere, some bigoted people, but the majority of the population isn't. I can't honestly think of any specific hatred towards Mexicans that I've seen here.

Canada is home to many cultures and I know some Mexicans who come to work close to my home, there is no discrimination towards Mexicans that I have ever heard of. There is very little racism here, but you can always find some ignorant people wherever you go.

I've heard time and again that some Western Canadians don't even like Eastern Canadians, specifically ones who come from Quebec!

I am sure that you'll meet some great people in Edmonton, though....good luck to you!

Canadiens aren't half as bad as Americans with racists. Also, the Dakotas hate anyone non-white. I commend you for being able to live there. I couldn't do it.

Ive been to Canada and I can't say it is worse than anywhere else. The secret,wherever you go, is to hold YOUR head high and be yourself.
