Yeah, those are Ron Paul's good points

But don't forget he is a weakling who won't go after the terrorists

Probably the biggest issue is the war. If you saw the first debate where Paul suggested that it was US policy that has helped contribute to terrorist activity, Giuliani tried to walk all over him. Even in the post-debate interview with Sean Hannity, Hannity could dwell on nothing else other than Paul's war comment- forget the limited government/libertarian ideas he shares with the GOP. It's all about the war. You will pretty much hear the same on Dennis Miller's show (as libertarian/pragmatic as I think he is).
For some reason, the GOP cannot think of another method of terrorist destruction other than war. Look at the "war on drugs" and other failed prohibitionist policies and it all centers around the use of force instead of economics. We could put most drug dealers out of business by relaxing the laws on possession and personal use as well as interdiction and eradication policies that just breed more growers and cartels. The GOP refuses to believe that anything short of excess use of force will work.
The 'Crats are really no different- they use force to coerce us into thinking that the government should provide healthcare, retirement, and radical environmentalist policies.
If Ron Paul could some how get conservatives to bite off on the war issue, he would have it in the bag. Keep displaying those Ron Paul stickers and yard signs.

Because he doesn't fit their agenda and he's against Bushie. Conservatives are way too closed minded and ignorant to support Ron Paul.

He is on target on most topics. But the conservatives, despite their rhetoric, don't really want to change the status quo....both major partiers are happy with the way things are.: they all get their fame, earmarks, nice salary, healthcare and pension. And they enjoy watching the rest of us squirm,

The "republican" base no longer believes in the ideals you have mentioned. If they did, there never would have been a war in Iraq, the USA PATRIOT act would never have been presented to congress, and the term "unlawfull enemy combatant" would not have been applied to any resident of the U.S.

I agree that Ron Paul would make the best president but he has almost no backing and no recognition by the general populace.

Because we need someone who can win before he even gets a chance to put his ideals into practice. If we select Ron Paul and Hillary wins, it doesn't matter what Ron Paul has done, is doing, or would do. The US is more prepared for a middle of the road conservative if they want to keep the white House. Fred Thompson is the man.

Ron "the libertarian" Paul is an isolationist. He wants to de-fund our military and not go after terrorists just for starters. He would be a disaster for national security and that's just for starters.

Because they are afraid of what he would attempt to do, which is making government, well government, and not the giant machine that it is, interfering with everyone's life.

In the end though, the President is rather irrelevant, Congress is what people should try to change. If all of Congress was like him, the country would be in good shape.

I LOVE Ron Paul for President. If he wins the nomination, I will more than likely vote for him. The thing is, I see Rudy G. getting the nomination, so I'll vote Libertarian on principle.

BTW, Abraham Lincoln was a Looney Toon! (I am from Illinois.)
