You should see the sketch from "Whitest Kids U Know" on FuseTV where they make a fake reggaeton video called "Let's Wake Up Your Neighbors." There's a part where he tells how to make a reggaeton song and he tells a guy to yell randomly into a megaphone. It's hilarious.

I think you are referring to the drum rythme in the songs. But perhaps you should listen to more Reggaeton. Yeah, most of the stuff played on the radio sound the same.

Not only that, but in my state, we have a station called KEXP and on Sat. mornings they play all Reggae for like 4 hrs and I've noticed lately that not only do they have the same beat, but they are all covers. I heard a bunch of Tracy Chapman songs being done, and Cream of all bands to cover...they're a 70's classic rock band. A bunch of others to, it's like not even original songs, mostly covers now. I don't get it.

Well, considering that genres of music are defined largely by their beats, you could say that of any kind of music.
