Not only wasn't it real, it wasn't based on a true story either.

No, it's not real. The whole thing was a hoax. It was written and directed by Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez. They casted the film with unknowns: Heather Donahue, Joshua Leonard, and Michael Williams. The movie is fake, but there does exist the legend of the witch.

No. It was THE suckiest movie I ever saw. Those idiots deserved to die. They should have stayed home with their mamas. I laughed my *** off through the whole thing.
They said the word **** 140 times woh that made it a hit.

ok, this is what my mom said: When it first came out, they tried to sell it as real, but then people who lived around the place started freaking out and stuff, so they had to tell the truth. THAT"S IT"S NOT REAL!!!! i dont understand how people bought it, it had the actors names on it for heaven's sake! HAHAHAHAHA!

No it was based on a true story though. The woods it was filmed in are in western maryland.

no it wasnt....but that is the best way to watch it thinking it was real....i new it was fake when i saw it so it wasnt as scarry...
