So many people think they have talent. When it comes to Modelling or acting you need more than talent. You need to learn stagecraft or poise.Your Mom is right. You don't say how old you are?Could you take part in an amateur production? Maybe a musical or such like? This is where I started a long time ago.I learnt all the techniques including Dance by taking part in a number of Dramatic plays and modern musicals. I'm sure you would find something like that near where you live. Then later when you graduate, you can decide. Good Luck!

True, it's hard getting noticed in the suburbs, I personally am not famous in anyway, but here's what I think:

If you've got the talent enough and you are very strong in your choices and are very serious about acting and/or modeling, than you'll do just fine.

If your age is a matter to think about, they worry about that. If it's a problem to them and they seem to reject you than you have to know that you have to keep going on and keep auditioning. From then you become more noticed, especially if you get the part than it's something better on your resume!

Who knows? You could be found at those auditions even if you dind't get the job!

High School is important to finish, DO NOT QUIT IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT.

If you are offered a big-time job than you'd want to wait it out. Education is a serious thing. But if you are fine with dropping out and getting a tutor and such, then do so, but having highschool on your resume as education is a lot better than none.

I would talk about this more with your mom.
Maybe she wants you to go to college if this acting career doesn't follow through and you don't have a backup.

I do wish you good luck though! =],

start with school plays, go out into local theatre first.
Do you think famous actors/actresses all got where they are overnight? Try 10-20 YEARS of being waiters between jobs, or living on whatever they can make on other, small jobs.
Many become acting teachers, so, if you think you are just 'THE next thing', take acting classes and get someone else to judge it.
Also, why not graduate? Because if acting doesn't pan out (thousands never make it anywhere) you will need something REAL to fall back on.

Hon, new faces does NOT sound like a legitimate modeling agency. Legitimate modeling agencies would never have a name such as New Faces.

Legitimate Modeling agencies have names like FORD MODELS, CLICK MODELS, The Trump Agency (yes, as in Donald Trump! He has a modeling agency.)

Take your mom to the interview with you, it doesn't sound good. Remember: YOU NEVER PAY MODELING AGENCIES. They pay the model once she makes money.
