Kris L...i am NOT trying to make fun of anyone..this is P&S it is all for fun..... i do not want anyone to call anyone stupid and i myself are not doing that....do you see me making fun of any of these people in my question....did i say somewhere that they were stupid...no i did not!!!
I do not take too kindly to you insinuating that i am asking this question to make fun of people....some people just cannot speak properly..... if i had asked the question but added in "people with speech difficulties" then yes you could ask what you have asked but i did not... you are being way way too serious about my question...as i said, this is P&S..we are here for a laugh...Have i to think about every single question i ask for fear of offending people like you.... i think not!!!!!!
The question was "mispronounce"...not can't say words properly through speech defects!!

Yes however I think it more like a geographical thing. In the east it I have found that some pronounce strength, (strangth) like I say it, strength, (strenth) the way they learned it. Ketchup verses Catsup. That kind of thing.

My husband has a great deal of pronouncing things properly, and also about remembering the 'proper pronunciation' when told it. My husband is slightly dyslexic ... I 'knew that' because I have a dyslexic son who is very intelligent, but has difficulty reading, and pronouncing things properly. When we were just friends, he mispronounced something, and I asked him 'Do you have dyslexia?' He looked SHOCKED because most people assume he was STUPID, when actually he's also extremely intelligent. I now 'correct his pronunciation' all the time, but do so in a 'joking' sort of way ... he can't 'help it' and he is learning to pronounce things properly ... but he also knows that I LOVE HIM and want him to 'appear smart' to others ... but earlier today, he was taking a 10 year old boy who plays WoW to some places. Yes, the boy knows he's a grown man, but not his actual real age ... this boy wants to be a 'game designer' someday, and my husband once taught 'media classes' in computer science. NEITHER OF THEM COULD SPELL ALL THE WORDS PROPERLY. This boy probably has dyslexia, too ... and it's a 'good thing' that my husband is 'helping him' with WoW and answering his questions about game design rather than saying 'You are a stupid kid' and ignoring him. So my question to you is: WHY did you ask this question? Are you a 'helper' or do you want us to call them 'stupid?' Some people just mess up the pronunciation because they think faster than they talk ... and that is a GOOD THING because they are usually MORE INTELLIGENT, not less ... THINK ABOUT IT!

Yes, there was one guy who used to say 'condescending adults' instead of consenting adults. I always wondered if there was some sort of meaning behind that slip.

A friend of mine is constantly doing this. She always says "rimestones" instead of rhinestones. And "amarillo" instead of amaretto. She does it with almost everything, it drives me nuts. =)

ADD* Oh yeah and my son used to say cocks and t its, instead of rocks and sticks. It was so funny, yet so embarassing.
