I just know some people who are able to get better jobs but are so proud of their crappy jobs that they are embarrased to tell people where they work...it just gets to me that people can be proud of being a waitress for 4 years or work at a clothing store for a long time...those kinds of jobs to me are only "for the time being" so maybe for a year but no more then that...and I am talking about people in their early to mid 20's...

OK let me refrase my question then...

why are people so proud of their jobs...when they think themselves that it is crappy and then when asked by someone who is in a higher position they lie about where they work?

I am not spoiled...I have been working since I was 14...I pay for everything on my own...and I am very independent...

Some people do not consider their job to be a major indicator of their overall success, perhaps they are more focused on their family and/or friends. As far as why they lie....perhaps they are simply intimidated.

Its pride in the WORK. Not matter the job, be mindful that it is not your life. I am a minister. Many never want my job either.

I know a garbage man named John. To look at him in his off time, you wonder "what bank does" this guy work for?

He loves his job and take a great deal of Pride in providing a much needed service. Seriously. I appreciate his hard work.

He started at age 18, he is now 51. He could have retired already and yet loves to work. He is good at it and it makes him happy. He built a wonderful life, happily married, a paid off house, putting his kids through college and owns some 'nice" things. So what makes it crappy? Garbage? not to him.

His daily job, allowed him to be home in time to play soccer with the kids, coach the t-ball for the boys, nurse his sick parents, drop off lunch to a sick neighbor on his route. He is a great humanitarian...and he is the average old garbage man. Not to mention, he had the resources to help after natural diseasters, he actually took his truck to New Orleans and cleaned up for strangers. WHY? it was the right thing to do. That is a good christian man, a role model.

SO what is the issue? Its your perception that it is a crappy job. Hard work is good for you. Maybe you should take a crappy job and learn humility. That is a powerful lesson.
I have worked crappy jobs before and was blessed to have the job, the paycheck, the transportantion and the health to be there that day. Trust me cleaning out horse stalls in midsummer heat is a life lesson its self.

You're judgmental. Walk a mile in their shoes. Frankly, you sound spoiled.
