The Texas accent. - As Jeff Foxworthy said "People hear this accent & automatically want to deduct 20 IQ points."
Add to this the fact that Bush is a pathetic speaker! I can really sympathize. Many times I come to his defence because I don't want people judging ME from my poor pronounciation. As I like to say "My brain works fine, but my mouth has difficulty keeping up."
And Bush has made some stupid choices in the past 6 years.
And of course the media isn't very forgiving of Republicans who mess up.
But I don't think the problem is lack of intelligence, but a lack of wisdom, which is much worse!

Have you never seen "The Daily Show" with Jon Stewart. Priceless, funny stuff. And Oh, so true.
=)
The funniest thing had to be when Bush was caught with the voice box under his suit jacket at one of the debates, as someone was piping in all the things for him to say! LOL
Good times

The way he talks and the poor speeches he gives. There's a website showing several quotes where he has made mistakes which no president should make.

Combined with some of his less then intelligent behavior and apparent cluelessness about serious issues, it was a joke that stuck.
