a thumbs down. That's if you mention him in any good light. I have noticed it and I find it very nice. People do it to me all the time and I get satisfaction. Sometimes I even mention his name in unrelated topics just to get the thumbs of approval.

I think it's just false hatred for Barry. Look what happened to the AS voting this past week! These definitely were not SF Giants fans!
The Giants fans wrapped their voting right after it started, so there are people across the US that wanted Barry Bonds to start in the AS game, and not just because he's from the SF Bay Area.
Intelligent people looking beyond the stupid steroid controversy and seeing that he has skills!

Ok I agree with most of the public. Bonds is a horses a.. But when all is said and done he is the best we will see for awhile. He has never tested positive for roids so give it a rest people. I don't like him, but I have noticed that any positive mention of him means at least a few guaranteed thumbs down. I just saw it with one of your answers about what "BB" stands for - you said Barry Bonds, and you immediately got a negative vote.
It just shows the level of hatred some people have for the guy - he's not a good guy in my opinion, but he's still an amazing player.
