why there is so much necessity for possession of money, both for haves and have-nots?

Vast majority of wealthy people accumulate wealth all their lives, only to leave behind to their sons and daughters, ignoring the fact that they earned money from this society. This a shame. They ought to give only in small part to their children, if at all. They should write a will and give their accumulated money to the charity or to whatever noble cause they deem fit.

Man's greed for ever more wealth ensures that he never ceases to earn more and accumulate the same. Man does not normally distribute his excess wealth among the have nots for the aforestated reason. It is human nature. Money is power and status. Hence no one gives away money. The have nots need it to survive another day. The haves need it to increase their power and authority. However some wealthy people do give away money to charities.

I think many people do both. I know that I "accumulate wealth", in other words, I work hard and pay my bills and try to have a nice life style, too, but I also give a lot to charities and church and where I see it is needed. So that is kind of like distributing it, isn't it? And I am not alone. Most of my co-workers, and neighbors and friends are just like me, as are my extended family members.

So maybe some people are greedy, but hopefully the ones who aren't keep a balance without needing government intervention which always seems to result in just members of the government getting richer while everyone else gets poorer.

IDIOT,if everyone did what you are asking for then everybody would have been on the road.the shirt, the pant and everything inside, that you wear was given to you not by your god but your money.money lets you have something in your stomach so that you can live and while you live it lets you enjoy your life by letting you buy the things you wish to have.money is not something which either i can have or you can have.it is made at the first place.money came into place when someone invented electricity, bread, roads, cars ,aeroplane, clothes, computer, internet. money isnt a symbol of devil which you idiotics regard it as, it is the symbol of invention and progress.I earn money so that I can enjoy my life.I get money after a month of pure hard work, and I do that bcoz I know money cant buy everything but there are still many more things that I want to live and have ,and those things , money can buy. I earn it for myself not for those ten children of beggar who is a beggar just bcoz HE NEVER DID A DAY'S HONEST WORK in his life.noone is born with "born poor and shall die poor" inscribed on his forehead. He is a beggar at the first place because of people like you who think they are saints to sympathise with them and say ,seated in your drawing room among 10 other idiotics like you, -"the rich isnt doing anything for them"

On the contrary, why can't people just accumulate wealth, instead of trying to re-distribute it?

You do realize "wealth redistribution" is just a fancy term for "theft"? Theft is just plain wrong, no matter what you call it.

The pickpocket on the subway who removes a wallet from your pocket to his....he might be said to engaging in "wealth redistribution" of sorts. What's the difference?

To man wealth alone gives the feeling of safety so he gets more and more of it. Do you not see that the politicians who have amassed huge wealth by stealth are more safer from income tax authorities than ordinary man in the street?

Accumulation of money by the rich people was the main idea of Capitalism, now renamed as "Market economy". Poor becoming more poor. If you protest against it you will be labelled as "Communist".

YOu mean like Bill Gates? Oh wait - he's given away more than most people earn in a life time.

Oh, maybe Warren Buffet? Nope, he's a highly respected philanthropist too.

Uhm - who exactly do you mean? Maybe a specific example would help me along.

(edited to add: OH, it just dawned on me! YOu're going to make some argument about life being "fair, aren't you?)

The way it works is:
You have a free market
The rich get greedy
The rich get richer.
The poor get poorer
The poor get upset
The poor revolt an you get a dictator, or communism
The poor get richer
The poor want more than money, and you get another revolution.
and your back where you started.
Doesn't work in countries that treat the poor with fairness

Hey, can you distribute twenty dollars my way? I'm broke right now and I need to buy a carton of cigarettes. I'm fresh out of smokes.
