However don't you think they indicate something about the intelligence of the questioner? If one cannot spend a moment or two ensuring the question is properly spelled how can one expect any serious replies?

yeah,I agree that intentional misspellings show the intelligence(and maturity) of a person. And mispellings pretty much make me wary of thier answers, too.
I know that if I put an answer on here, or a question, I try and make it...well....something that looks like words, and is spelled right.
and, yeah, things like 'RU doin sumthin' kind of stuff just drives me NUTS.

My replies are always serious even when the questions aren't. By serious, I mean the most helpful. I'm not an expert but people might actually take my advice in this forum. I don't want to lead anyone astray. That is what guides me when I attempt to provide a good answer to people's questions, misspellings or not.

It matters. I only assume that the misspelled words are typographical errors. Or that some "askers" do not use English as their first language. Otherwise, there will be very few questions to answer.

We have a generation of IMers who abbreviate and misspell just to type fast. They don't care. I use Firefox which checks as I type so I don't have to do a spell check. It is telling me IMers is spelled wrong. Maybe it will be in the dictionary next year.

What bothers me about the misspellings is that we have a check speller available to us.
