Mandela, though he stepped down several years ago now, did a fantastic job, not least because in standing down after just one term in office, he served as an example to other presidents in the region, who are more reluctant to give up power.

He was not a communist, he had communists in his alliance, which is a different thing altogether. and subsequent ANC governments have pursued a very liberal economic line, proof if proof were needed that the communists never held that much sway in the party.

as for apartheid - it depends how strict your definition is. If you mean the narrow one - blacks are not allowed the vote, are not allowed to live in the same areas a whites, are brutalised regularly by the police on a regular basis - then of course, apartheid ended in 1994.

and a scheme called Black Economic Empowerment means that a certain percentage of every company has to be owned by a black person.

but there are still many who are excluded from the economy because of the legacy of aparheid, namely the huge inequities in distribution of education and health resources. its hard to become a city trader, when none of your family went to college, thats just the way it is.

Apartheid was created by the South Africa goverment . It wasn't a black white issue , it a corp . issue ! They taxed poor people who had no income ! So they could get free labor to work in the diamond mine . And we all know what big corp. owns the diamond mine .

I'm not certain if it still exist but I have read lately that things are much worse under Mandela.
No jobs, black on black violence, crime has taken over the place.

Don't think Nelson has done such a good job but no one wants to talk about that.

This question, a serious one, is best answered by another question. Is racism still alive in the United States? The two countries and their racism are tied together for many more generations.

There are still incredible racial tensions now, but it is true that Africans have more representation than before.

Officially it is over.... but the truth of it is it isn't. They just changed it's name to Affirmative action and equity equity. Now if you are white you stand NO CHANCE.

Things were better before Mandela started his meddling

Did you know that Nelson Mandela is a lousy communist? Tell your classmates, as many teachers cover up (or conveniently omit) this important fact:
