Then turn the Red and Blue up on your monitor. First before any of this, make sure the input and output are ALL the way in and secure. If so then, you can do this by right click on the desktop, go to Propties, the last tab, instructions are there. You can also, if you have a LCD monitor (not a laptop screen) or a CRT, then use the buttons on the monitor and read the instructions to increase the red and blue coloring. If this problem continues with this, then your monitor is broken.

Is this a CRT or an thin LCD? If its either you can try checking the pins of the cable on both ends. Make sure that the pins on the connectors are straight and not recessed.

If the pins are OK then it sounds like you lost your red gun on your CRT, or whatever microprocessor converts the analog red on the LCD. Anyway that you can try another monitor?

Other than that, you can disconnect the monitor and see if it displays signal lost or if you can pull up the menu on the monitor (disconnected from the PC remember) and see if the menu is all green. If it is then yes the problem is with the monitor. I wouldn't suggest smacking it anymore as this will cause the monitor to go completely dead.

If this is an LCD then you should get a manufacturers warranty from it. If the warranty is up then www.newegg.com or head over to costco or best buy and pick up another.

Not a whole lot you can do to trouble shoot this. You can also try to browse through the menu of the monitor and see if you can reset it to factory defaults (factory reset) and see if you can degause it.

Hope this helps.

Hi. There are three colors on a monitor - red, green, and blue. Sounds like the red or blue may have gotten disrupted. Try removing the cable at both ends and re-seat them. If that does not help try adjusting the colors within the monitor's settings menu. If that does not work try (last resort) tapping the monitor on all sides to reseat the component that came loose inside.

Most monitors only have Contrast and Brightness controls. Very few have colour matching capability. The probable cause is a component beginning to fail. It's not uncommon for a monitor to turn into a single colour when internal problems occur.

Right click on your desktop-select properties, from the drop down menu, click settings-advance, here you should see information regarding your monitor & graphics card, search through this area till you find colour management and make your changes there.

Good luck.

Yes
Your socket is not in the monitor properly
Or if you think it is
check the pins in the din plug with a magnifier and you may find one is broken or bent

You already seem to have the best answers but you can also try to adjust the RGB on your monitor.
