I suppose it would be smart to start by remembering the expectations we had of our lovers and friends.
All but one my lovers (not boasting) was true, but I didn't expect anything more from them.
I've had many friends and acquaintences over the years and as long as I don't depend too heavily on my friends, they too remain true.
In 1970, I did, have one of my good friends take off with my girlfriend (at the time). It was a real kick in the rear.
They married and I lost both of them as friends, the loss of their friendship was worse than the loss of their loyalty.
So I guess , it's better to not expect too much from anyone and at least the comradeship will carry one.
Gratefully, I've reconnected with both of them (they were married for a year and divorced) through the Classmates.com and I'm happy all three of us have landed on our feet.

I've had more true friends then lovers. At this point I know the friends will always be there.

I've had quite a few lovers and some are still friends. Add them to the true friends and that makes about a dozen...lol

Yes, I've had more true friends. I'm friends with everyone. But, then again I seriously honestly don't know who is my true friends I am just figuring that out.
